ARTcart is a tool to encourage dialog within a neighborhood and throughout a city. Many people crave community and togetherness but do not know where to find it or how to develop it. ARTcart is a creative means to reaching a goal of discussion about art, identity and community. Many people believe art is only done for decorative purposes; this project will break that belief down by having no end goal, only the practice will be the focus. ARTcart will create an area for dialog. Art will be the excuse for people to have a conversation. The beginnings of the conversations may have to do with art, but in time will move to other topics. The end subject matter makes no difference; what matters is that people are communicating. ARTcart will create a community revolved around art. When people begin to make art, they will realize some of the emotional and philosophical benefits of art, such as working through emotions and thoughts that may not be fully developed. ARTcart will gather the whole community together and celebrate the connection between the creative process and the everyday practice of living together.
