Take 5: Art Break Day takes place each year on the FIRST FRIDAY in September. Cities from around the Bay Area gather together as a community in order to provide an ART BREAK for everyone! From 9AM until 5PM on Art Break Day everyone is invited to sit down at an art table and make art for FREE!

Art is Moving

is an art collaboration between Lisa Rasmussen and Lauren Odell Usher began in January 2008. The mission of Art is Moving is to make art more accessible to the masses in order for everyone to get the chance to discover the power of creativity. Art is Moving has charged forward with this mission by creating a space for dialog about art on their blog, interviewing artists both in print and on video, and starting a state-by-state database of practicing artists. Art is Moving started ARTcart! to bring art to every street corner around the world, and ART in your POCKET, a 2" by 3" art supply box that is affordable and mobile so art making is possible everywhere.

Take 5: Art Break Day

is another way to make art accessible to the wider public as well as provide that public with the tools to make art. Through this event we hope to further push the concept that creating art is valuable for both the individual and the community at large. We believe that by offering an art break to the public, participants will gain appreciation for art making and continue the practice in the future.

The locations for Take 5: Art Break Day 2012 have yet to be determined. Interested in having an "art break" your city in 2012? Contact us by clicking HERE.
